How long will my appointment take?
The average appointment can last up to an hour, so please make sure you have time for the whole process. Since we operate on a tight schedule, we greatly appreciate as much preparation as possible for your appointment. This ensures efficiency on our part, so everyone can be seen and taken care of.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
There are a few things we would like you to have prepared before your visit to La Luz Women's Center. These include:
- The date of the first day of your last menstrual cycle (LMP).
- A photo ID (driver's license, state ID, school ID)
- Proof of Pregnancy (only required if you already know you are pregnant and want to enroll in Earn While You Learn)
What will my appointment cost?
All of our pregnancy services are provided at no cost to you.
When should I take a pregnancy test?
The Mayo Clinic says you're likely to get more accurate results if you wait until after the first day of your missed period. Our no-cost, medical-grade pregnancy tests are sensitive enough to likely detect your pregnancy earlier.
Why do I need an ultrasound?
You need more information than a positive pregnancy test provides. You need to know if your pregnancy is viable (growing) or you've miscarried. In addition, ultrasound will confirm how far along you are and the location of your pregnancy.
If you are sexually active, it is possible you could have a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or disease (STD). One in five people in the U.S. has an STI. Almost half of new STIs are among young adults aged 15–24. It's important to get tested regularly.
